Jodi Pliszka is one of those great people.  From the moment I met her, and had the opportunity to be her “mentor” on American Inventor, I knew that she was driven, committed and has the kind of persona you wish more people possessed.  Jodi’s story is a journey of hope, love and respect.  A truly beautiful person with an amazing heart and a dream that came true!

— Peter Jones, British Tycoon, Creator and Judge on ABC TV'S AMERICAN INVENTOR SHOW

I was overwhelmed, inspired and blown away by Jodi’s positive energy, inner power and drive to make a difference in the world. This book is a testament to Jodi’s desire to reach out and inspire all those in the world who have their own struggles, and to show people that anything is possible as long as you have the courage to believe!

—Matt Gallant, Celebrated TV Host, Animal Planet's "Planet’s Funniest Animals," ABC TV's American Inventor, Make A Wish Foundation/ Philanthropist

Bella Gets a New Sweater PDF Print E-mail

The next in a series of stories about Gizmo and Bella, this adventure takes them to the sweater boutique, where Bella looks for a sweater that’s “just right.” The comparison is made between getting a sweater and finding a perfect wig. The story takes Bella to the store, and allows her to take her time trying on all the sweaters she wants to, to find the perfect one. Another little girl (this time a puppy) is in the store, crying, because she is losing her hair. She tells Bella that she is upset because she will need a sweater too. Bella brings Lucy, the beagle, a sweater just like her own, and they become fast friends. Lucy learns from Bella that being bald is an adventure, and that what’s on the inside a person is much more important than what is on the outside. They become partners in helping others by keeping their eyes and ears open, giving smiles, a gentle touch, any little gesture that can help another feel better.

Bella and Gizmo's Adventures: The Hairless Sphynx Cats PDF Print E-mail

The inspirational warmth of this delightful children’s book is directed at the child who suffers from hair loss. Whether from the genetic condition, Alopecia, or from cancer treatment, hair loss for children is a traumatic experience that sets them apart from their friends and family. This wonderful story addresses the lonely feeling of sadness from the ridicule others create by pointing how Gizmo, the hairless Sphynx cat, is “different,” and shows the child how he learns that he is “unique and rare” instead of “different.” Then Gizmo learns that he is not alone when his Master, Jessica, brings home another hairless kitty, Bella. He learns there are other cats just like him, and the two cats become best friends. The author’s wonderfully expressive illustrations bring this uplifting story to life for every child (and their friends and parents) who reads the book.
