Zara Griswold grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and like many woman, had dreams of becoming a mother someday. When she was faced with ovarian cancer and a complete hysterectomy at age twenty-three, her fantasies of motherhood were suddenly destroyed.  Because of her experiences, she knows all too well what it feels like to be infertile yet so desperately want children.  For over eight years she worried if she would indeed ever experience the joys of having children, but knew deep down that it was not a dream she would ever dismiss.

After being told by two different adoption agencies that she and her husband didn’t meet the “years of marriage” requirement, she became very frustrated and distraught. In the spring of 2002, a friend of hers suggested surrogacy as an option and Zara decided to do some research Online.  She found their surrogate mother through a surrogacy website and about a year later, in June 2003, Zara and her husband Mike welcomed their son and daughter into their arms.

Zara is a former high school English teacher who is now a stay-at-home-mom. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University.  In addition to writing her first book, she is still involved in the surrogacy and infertility community.
