WHO REALLY IS JODI PLISZKA, THE PERSON and AUTHOR?

I have been told by so many people that I am very “down-to-earth” and “as real as they come.”  My reply usually is, “my mom tells me that I have lived the life of a seventy-year old lady, and I am only in my thirties!”

I know that opposition and trials create a person’s inner being.  We  have the choice to either be a survivor or a victim.  The paths that I have chosen in life are GOD DRIVEN, and I am so blessed for that.  I am a SURVIVOR

I have been through pain, agony, abusive relationships, divorce, hair loss, self-hatred and then self-acceptance.  I have lived in Wisconsin, Ohio, New Jersey, New York and back to Wisconsin.  With each state I lived in, I found more of what I lost in life, MYSELF, and self-acceptance.

With each person that I have helped, as a Therapist(Masters Level, working on my Ph.D), or as a volunteer for the Alopecia Support Groups, or the Cancer Societies, Look Good Feel Better Program, I found that sharing my experiences in life were always very cathartic.  Each time I open up myself, through media or my books, I help so many, and in return I can strengthen myself.  What a great gift from GOD, I feel that I am blessed with.  I am a true Empathetic person.  I feel the feelings that others possess.

I am a Christian and believe that HOPE, LOVE and STRENGTH can only be achieved from ABOVE.  I try to place my beliefs in my books, without being offensive to those who are not believers. We all have our own GOD’s.  I feel that everyone has the right to believe in what they do, and leading by example, I can show how FAITH saved me and gave me blessed direction in life.    I am a Christian, a daughter, a Mommy, an Inventor, an Author, an Illustrator, a Therapist, a singer and an athlete.  “I LOVE LIFE!”

I love hanging out with my nine-year old daughter, Jessica.  We love reading books together and of course, drawing.  When I sit down to work on an illustration, Jessica is right there with me, drawing her rendition of Bella or Gizmo.  These moments are priceless.  Occasionally, Jess likes using my big BALD head as her canvass, and loves drawing pictures on my HEAD.  We love to LAUGH and HUG and have fun in life!

I am a huge fitness lover and workout every morning (I do take off on Sunday’s).  I love to take a run outside, while Jessica rides her bike next to me, making my laugh.  I like to do short TRIATHLONS, and I am very competitive.  I ran track in high school and college.  I was a sprinter and long jumper and loved going to state and National competitions.

I hold a BLACK BELT in Songahm, TaeKwonDo and love doing this sport with my daughter, as well.  Jessica is a blue belt, only three away from black.  Since I like to try to “fit in” when I am with my daughter, I wear my wig while doing TKD.   I got so tired of the sweat saturating my wigs and running into my eyes, I starting putting pantiliners up, under my wigs to catch the perspiration.

I thought this was very undignified, so I set out to design a product that could do the same thing, yet be worthy or every wig wearer to use.  After a very extensive patent search and almost three years later, I received my patent for the HEADLINER in May 2005.

I am the owner and CEO of PLISZKA’S ADVENTURES L.L.C.

This product is disposable and adheres inside any wig, hat or helmet, catching the sweat that would otherwise saturate the item.  I am working with INVENT HELP presently, trying to find the right manufacturer for my product.  I know that the military would love to have its soldiers in IRAQ, presently, wear the HEADLINER to catch the sweat that burns their eyes.  This HEADLINER will revolutionize the wig industry!

We go up to the lake, where my parents have a summer home, about every other weekend.  I love to swim across the lake and back, while my parents and Jess ride in the pontoon boat cheering me on.  Jess and I love to fish with my dad.  We fish our lake for blue gills, bass and perch, while going for the big catfish and walleye on the Wisconsin river.  I love this sport, and we eat our catch or “catch and release” if not.

We love to water-ski and go boating.  I love to ski slalom and try to get the highest spray I can, while doing tricks , like putting the rope between my knees or holding it with my foot.  I love to show off once in a while!

I was a voice major in college, but had two surgeries on my vocal chords for pallops.  I still love to sing to the radio and karaoke, whenever I can.

I love low fat cooking and baking and drink a lot of water every day.  I don’t drink alcohol , don’t do drugs or smoke.  I find that I have enough “pleasures in life to make me naturally high!”  Plus, I work on the Behavioral Health Unit as Case Management Coordinator for AURORA St. Luke’s Hospital.  I see enough drunk, high people, daily, trying to detox and stay sober, I would never hurt my body that way.  Kids…”SAY NO TO DRUGS AND ALCOHOL” they will kill you, and ruin your life!  If you don’t believe me, I welcome a child to spend just one day with me on our unit, after seeing our sick population, they will be believers!

Well, that is enough about me.  I think I am just a normal person that has adjusted to life and takes ACTION instead of just talking about things.

I pray that my books and adventures will help as many people in this world, as I can reach.  I wish that there was someone like me, to help me, when I was losing my hair and trying to “fit in”.  GOD blesses me with my direction in life, DAILY.  BELIEVE and HE WILL TOUCH YOUR LIVES, AS WELL!

GOD BLESS US ALL!
